Life sure has its ups and downs.

I didn't realize just how long it has been since I have posted anything on here. I just have had so many issues going on around here I just haven't had the time or energy to put my thoughts down. Life sure takes a lot of twists and turns. We recently found out that my granddaughter is pregnant. It knocked the wind out of me. She is 17 and going to be a senior in high school. I was so hoping that she would not follow in her mothers footsteps. But...so now we move forward and take things one day at a time. I never knew my life would turn out like this. I have raised my children, had foster child whom I adopted, raised my grandkids, grandson ended up living with his father, (not by my choice that is for sure) and now will be raising or rather help in raising my great grandchild. I never in a million years thought I would be a great grandma at the ripe old age of 54. There honestly is not words that I can put down to express how I fee. There is some major issues with the father of this baby. Won't go into this but hopefully she will see him for what he is and that will be the end of this. She is starting to see my daughter and my point. Time will tell. Not sure what she is having yet. She is due Jan5 or somewhere around that time. Will know more next week when she goes to the doctor.

Seems all I have been doing is working, sleeping and trying to find time to relax. I have been playing on facebook. That seems to be helping me keep my sanity, what little there is. I farm on Farmtown, live in Yoville. I really do enjoy farming and I enjoy decorating my home. It gets my creative juices running and lets me go as wild as I want when I decorate. I guess whatever works these days in keeping me sane.

I do get to go to another race coming up on August 15th. I am so looking forward to going. I need to get away. It's only for a couple days but at this point anything will be good.

We did get a chance to go to the fair a couple weeks ago. We went to the grandstand show and watching Bull Riding. I took some pictures but they didn't turn out that well. So can't post them. But if anyone gets a chance to go watch one of these shows, GO they are really interesting and fun. Those bulls are huge.

We have had some issues at work with this one resident who we have to sit with 1 on 1. So during the midnight shift which I work I have been reading. In the last couple weeks I think I have read like 8 books. Which is ok because I haven't had time to catch up on my reading as it was. I had a lot of books that I have been wanting to get to, and now I have. I am getting low so I did buy a couple more and am going to order some more from Barnes & Noble. I started reading this series and I need to get the rest of them. A lot have been added since I bought the first couple in the series. So I need to get them so I can continue. I love to read.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stays safe. Have a good one.

Things I have been up to lately

I haven't had a chance to put my pics on my computer from my camera till the other day. Here is a picture loaded blog of what I have been up to lately.

A friend at work needed a card holder for her granddaughters graduation so she ask me to come up with something. Here is what I came up with. It has a slot in the back to put the cards in and the bottom comes undone so that you can get the cards out. She really liked it.
I have been working on the BOM Christmas squares. I have these done so far. I still have the 6th one in my bag to do, just haven't had time to work on it. I believe there are 9 blocks. I haven't decided what material I am going to use for the borders around each one. But I have time for that.
A friend had a baby recently and I made this for her to hang in the baby's room. She really liked and took a picture of me holding it so she could put it in her baby book. I am not a fan of having my picture taken but oh well sometimes you have to bite the bullet and just smile.

I went to another NASCAR race June 14th with my mother and daughter in Michigan and we are going back again in August. The MC for this race was Kid Rock. He was the one who said "Gentlemen start your engines" and rode in the pace car at the start of the race. We sit in the front rows on start finish line. This was the view we had from our seats of him on the track before race started.
Here is another pic of him from our seats. I am not a fan of his but it was cool seeing him in person. We saw him walking around in the merchandise area but you couldn't get close because of all the people trying to get his autograph. I settled for a pic from my seat.

They had this cool skydiving team before the race started. This was the last one that came down. This is what I saw above my head from my seat. They were really cool.

Last weekend was Relay for Life here in LaPorte. I am with a team with some coworkers. The theme this year was Holidays. Our team chose St. Patricks Day. I was in charge of making the crazy hat for the contest. Here is what I came up with. It was time consuming but lots of fun to make. I glued these little 1" squares to make the rainbow. I didn't think I would ever get done. I did both sides of the rainbow. There were 3 little pots of gold filled with gold coins at the end of the rainbow. I put these 3 green mugs with four leaf clover coins on the other side. It turned out cute. We didn't win :( but it was still fun.
Here is a picture of me wearing the hat. I also had these green mug glasses as part of the costume. The pic is hard to see as it was dark and it was taken at 3a. It rained again this year, well rather it stormed. Thunderstormed! We had lightening and they made everyone go to the barns for protection. Some of the teams tents got blown down and some broke and blew away. Our team faired pretty good. We had enough coverage and was held down pretty good. All in all even though it was a very wet long night (5p-8a) we had a fun time. Can't wait to see what next year brings. Its all for a good cause.

Well I hope you enjoyed the pics of what I have been up to lately. Between work, sleep, daily duties, and of course family my time is very busy. Take care and hope you enjoy your day.

I WANT TO SCREAM!!!!

I need to vent, major VENT!!!! A little background information first...In the last 3-4 mail days I have received approximately 12 pieces of mail for a man who does not live here, never lived here, have no clue as to who he is. We have the same last name but that is the only similarity. I didn't think to much of one or two pieces of mail, but 12...I decided I needed to open some of these and see what was going on. Some felt like they had credit cards in them. Well they did. There was also a bill from a store with over $900 worth of merchandise charged on it in a 2 day period. All high end clothing. There were credit denials from credit cards, stores, etc. I started calling all these places to make sure my SS# was not linked to any of these. Thankfully it wasn't. But here is the reason I want and feel the need to VENT. YOU CAN NOT TALK TO A LIVE PERSON ANYMORE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH A 30 MINUTE OF PRESS THIS AND THAT. SOMETIMES NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU PRESS THROUGH THE MENU YOU STILL CAN'T TALK TO A LIVE PERSON AND THE CALL ENDS. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD THAT WE CAN'T GET TO SPEAK TO A LIVE PERSON. AND ONE WHO SPEAKS ENGLISH!!!!!!!! It was suggested I contact one of the major credit report companies and put an alert on my report for someone using my address. Well 30 min later I never did get to talk to anyone and got hung up on 3x. I pressed everything pertinent to what I wanted done, including pressing 0 and # in hopes the system would somehow put me through to a LIVE person. But to no avail. I even tried the websites that was suggested but trying to navigate around those is just as bad. Why does everything have to be so high tech. What are people afraid to actually speak to others? I got some good responses to some of the places I called and they were very thankful that I called and that I was an honest person and reported this. Shoot I have 5 credit cards right in front of me right now that all I have to do is call to activate them and I can have a ball if I was a dishonest person, which I am not. I am going to run them through the shredder so no one can use them. I don't know if this person whos name is on the cards is a victim also, or what exactly is going on. But come on people what can we do. I know everyone seems to think that automation is the way to go, and for the most part on any normal circumstance it is, BUT THERE ARE TIMES WHEN PRESSING 1,2, 3 OR 4 DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF WHAT YOU NEED DONE.

I don't have an answer to this problem, and I will continue to call each and every place I get a piece of mail from for this person. In hopes that I will get it taken care of and keep trying to get a live person. I know the economy is bad and I am sure that has a lot to do with what is happening with this and why I am getting so many things, but you could put some of these people to work actually ANSWERING THE PHONE. That alone would create a lot of jobs!!!!!!!!

Ok I feel a little better, Not completly but its better then yelling, screaming, stomping my feet and turning red.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy this weather.

Oh the rain, must it keep coming?

Now don't get me wrong, rain is a good thing. But in moderation. Yes its great for the plants, grass, lakes, etc. But...come on pretty much everyday, this is getting crazy. I just hope it gets it all out of its system before Sunday. My favorite pastime is watching Nascar racing and this weekend I am going to the race in Brooklyn, MI. I really don't go many places. Between my work and trying to get some sleep there just doesn't seem to be any time to take off for any length of time to go anywhere. But I do come heck or high water go to 2 Nascar races a year. Both of them up in Michigan. Its about a 3hr drive from here. The track is about an hour south of Detroit. A girl has to get some excitement in her life and Nascar happens to be mine. My granddaughter calls me a nerd. She thinks its crazy to go. Thats ok, I will be a nerd, I don't mind. Come on rain, GO AWAY!!!!!

Speaking of my granddaughter, Morgyn, she is officially a senior in high school now that school is out for the year. I can't believe it. Seems only yesterday she was this little toddler running around hanging on to my leg. Now she is driving, working, off with her friends, going to prom, growing up. It happened in a blink of an eye. Her and my grandson, Kharson, are the love of my life.

They really do both make me so proud. I just wish I saw my grandson. I just keep praying that he remains safe and the day comes where I can see him on a regular basis. Ok don't want to get all emotional here. I pray that God will work it all out for whats best for him.

Today I have some crafts I need to get done. I am making a graduation cap card box for a lady at work and I need to make the crazy hat for Relay for Life. The theme this year is holidays and our team picked St Patty Day. Its always fun to see what people come up with. Relay is next weekend. Hard to believe its already here. And 4th of July is right around the corner. This year is going by so fast. I have been working on some embroidery and cross stitch things. I need to download them to my computer so that I can post them. I will be taking pics of the box and hat when I am done. Crafts keep me out of trouble...LOL of course thats another thing that my granddaughter just laughs and says I need to get a life. Hey this is my life. I am not complaining. I do things that make me happy and thats what counts. Morgyn and I went shoe shopping the other day. I wanted to find some summer sandals. I found a couple pair I really liked and of course she had to make a comment. "Those look like grandma shoes" I just looked at her and said "well then that works out because I am a grandma". There was this other customer in the same aisle and she just started laughing and I thought she was going to pee her pants as much as she was laughing and holding her stomach. She told me "that was a good one and I will have to remember that next time my grandkids say something to me" I just smiled.

Well I need to get going and get my day started. I have so many things on my list to accomplish for today. Take care and hope you enjoyed reading. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers.

They Grow up so Fast!!!!

My granddaughter Morgyn went to her Jr Prom last night. Its hard to believe she is old enough to be doing things like this. Kids grow up so fast. Here are a few pictures we took before she left. These are the flowers that my mother made for her. Morgyn decided she wanted to have silk flowers because they would last. And she wanted the flowers to always look pretty not all dried up like real flowers get.

We went to my mothers to take the pictures so that they didn't have to go to a bunch of houses to have everyone see her. She went with her good friend Brian. He is a nice gentleman. She looks so grownup.
This pictures I am not that fond of. I thought I had it set for a more closeup picture but I didn't. Oh well that happens sometimes. Her dress was a light yellow halter with silver sparkles on the overlay of the dress. It was very pretty and very flattering on her.
I tried to zoom in a little better this time. Not much better but you get the idea.

Here is a closeup of her heels. They were 3 in sandals with clear bottoms and heels. I have no idea how she was going to walk in these let alone dance. But she assured me she would be fine. She said they were comfortable. Will be interesting to find out today just how comfortable they were after being in them for the night.
I hope she had fun and she will have lots of great memories. Won't be able to talk to her till later on today to find out how it all went. Hope you enjoyed my Kodak moments.

Up & running and Vera Bradley sale

I am finally up and running with my new Internet provider. I got a lot of things accomplished while taking a somewhat computer break. But its nice to be able to check things on my own computer when I want to, not on someone else schedule.

Yesterday my mom, sister, daughter and myself went to Fort Wayne, IN to the Vera Bradley purse sale. Not sure if you are familiar with these type of purses but they are wonderful. So many styles, so many colors, so roomy, so many accessories to put in the purses. If you haven't heard of these purses you should check out their website. They are a little on the pricey side if you buy them retail but they last forever. You can throw them in the washing machine when dirty and they come out looking like new.

Once a year they have a big sale with the retired colors and styles. The factory is in Fort Wayne and her main store. This sale was held at the Fort Wayne Colisium which is a huge place. I thought I took a picture of the outside of the place but when I got home I realized I didn't. It took us 2hrs to get there. Mom, my daughter Amanda and I had never been to this sale before but my sister Lisa had. She went last year and was saying it was fun and the group she went with went in and got their purchases and checked out. Didn't take too long. WELL...this year was a mad house. First off when we paid to park they told us it would be at least a 2 hr delay just to get in. We saw the lines and were stunned. There were lines wrapped around 4 rows of cars on the side of the building. Here is a little bit of the line on the side.
Here is the picture of the line when it came around the front of the building and you can't even see the doors yet. There was maybe another 2 blocks to go just to get to the doors. All in all we waited about 1hr 45 min just to get into the doors.
This is what we saw when we finally got into the main area where the sale was going on. It was like a feeding frenzy. LOL I could not believe it. I was not prepared for this. They gave you this big pink plastic garbage bag and off you went. You pretty much just had to put things in your bag you liked as you saw them and then decide later if you wanted them or not. Things were going fast.
Here is my sister and daughter (in middle of pic, blue shirt to the right of lady in white sweater) my daughter was going through one of the numerous piles on the floor that people had put their unwanted items. They had bins all over the place with discarded items that you could go through and hopefully find what you were looking for.
Here is a pile of wallets on one of the tables. They kept things well stocked up throughout the day. And they emptied out quickly.
Here is a table with some boxes of pajama pants and in the background you can see people waiting in line to checkout in the next room. The line to checkout had started over behind the wallet table above that was 5 rows back.
We walked out into the lobby area and then into another room to checkout. I about dropped my jaw when I saw this. This room was as big as the sale room and they had 13 rows of people waiting to checkout. This picture is just going into the room we hadn't even gotten into line. Now mind you we had already stood in line to get in, shopped for about 2hrs, then walked into this.
Here we are in line in the first of 13 rows. I could not believe the amount of bags some people had and the many ingenious ways people were pulling, carrying, tugging their bags. Some had extra bags tied together and then around their bags so they could pull them. Some had stuff in boxes and were shoving or pulling them. Some even had brough rope to tie their bags together and were pulling them through the lines. I had to chuckle.
I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the checkouts. They were trying to get people moving through as quickly as possible which was good. But not enough time to take any pictures. There were approximatly 60 registers. Everyone was really nice and friendly. I never saw anyone with a frown on their face. This sale had been going on since last Wednesday. I can't even fathom the amount of people, merchandise and money that flowed through that place.
I personally spent a total of $15. And those were for gifts which are not shown here. This picture is of my new items that my daughter bought for me. I had planned on buying these but while going through the checkout lines my daughter ask if I minded if she paid for them and they could be my Mother's Day gift. I didn't mind at all and she is so sweet and does things like that all the time. She is so good to me. My things cost $118 and when we got home we added up what it would have cost retail and mine would have come to $695. So I did alright. My daughter spent about $250 for her items and it would have come to $960. My granddaughter now has a couple of these purses too. We picked her up some things. My mom spent $175 and my sister spent $200. They both also had picked up some things for other people that was included in their total.
All in all it was a wonderful day. Tiring and we all were sore and could barely move to get out of the car when we stopped to get something to eat. We walked and walked and stood in line so much yesterday. I know when I got home and put my things away I got in my pj's and sat in the recliner with some iced tea and passed out. My body ached but feels better this morning. Even though it was a long day we all are looking forward to going back next year. You can't beat the prices.
I know this was long but I hope you enjoyed the pics. I need to finish up going through my container of purses and get rid of the ones I don't use anymore so I can put my new things in it. Now I just have to decide which purse I want to use this week. I have a tendency to change purses all the time. And I also picked up a backpack which is in the above pic top left, I am going to use that for work to carry my things I need in it. Oh and I just realized I forgot to add the insulated lunch bag that I also got. It's really nice and will come in handy taking things to work.
I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the day. Its sunny here today and about 65 so going to open up the windows and let some fresh air in. Take care and be safe.

Spring is here or at least I hope so

This past weekend was beautiful. Nice warm weater, sun shining, able to have the windows open in the house, house smells so nice and fresh. I hope spring is here to stay. But living in northern Indiana I know that we can be in for a rude awakening and find snow on the ground. But I am keeping my fingers crossed. We mowed our yard on Saturday and got out all the lawn furniture. In hopes that we will now be able to use it very very soon. Keeping our fingers crossed.
Only about 10 more days or so and I will be hooked back up to the internet at my house. I miss not being able to just get on my computer when I want and be able to go to the sites that I have saved whenever I want. Not that I can't use my daughters computer whenever I want, its just more convenient at home. I have been able to get some things done around my home that I have wanted to do. Took a big box to GW the other day and took some clothes my daughter didn't want anymore to work for some of the girl residents that don't have much to wear. We get girls in all the time that come in some pretty raggedy clothing and you ask the parents to bring in some clothes for them to wear so they can go to school and they never show up. There always is some excuse or another. I could really go off on a tangent and get up on my soapbox but I won't. I will just do what I can and let it go at that.
I have been looking for some spring ideas to make lately. Really not much out there for embroidery or cross stitch. I have started on some 4th of July items so I will be ready. Guess I will just have to be imaginative and go from there.
I hope everyone has had a nice Easter and enjoying some spring weather. Please stay safe and enjoy life. Will be up and running soon. WooHoo

Still having issues and updates

I am still having issues with my internet provider and have now decided to change providers. I won't be up and running till the end of the month but thats ok. By going with this new provider my daughter and I can have our computers hooked up to the same acct and this way we can split the bill. This in the long run will work out best for both of us as we will both save about $40 a month from what we are paying now. So that it is a good thing. So maybe this was the way it was all suppose to work out anyway. In this economy its good to save money wherever you can.
This weather has been crazy around here. It snowed Sunday night and it got really cold. The snow was all gone by noon the next day but sure can't tell its spring that is for sure. My granddaughter is in Georgia visiting relatives for spring break and she said the weather has been sunny and in the 80's. I told her to pack some of that nice warm weather in her suitcase and bring it back home with her. We could sure use it. Its been quiet around here without her. I miss her. Yes she can be a pain the .... like most teenagers can but it doesn't change the fact that you still miss them.
I am still trying to figure out the best sleeping pattern for me. I am not having any trouble staying awake working this midnight shift. But pretty much surviving on maybe 4-5hrs of sleep a day just doesn't cut it. Sometimes I swear my mind is a jumbled up mess. You would think after working this shift almost a year (in July will be a year) I would get used to it and be able to sleep better, but so far no go. Oh well at least I am gettig some crafts done and that is a good thing.
I have some Easter decorations up around my house but can't post any pictures because I am not on my computer. I can't post any of the new craft items I have made either. Oh well you take the good with the bad. Will post when I get my computer all up and running. It will be a little past the holidays but sometimes things happen.
I hope everyone has a nice Easter. Be safe and enjoy yourself.

email issues

Computers can be fun but sometimes they can be a pain in the rear end. I am having some issues with my internet provider and so I won't be on hardly at all for the next couple weeks. Of course the provider is so busy that they can't get to me until sometime within the next month. Now come on that is crazy but I am at their mercy. I will checking periodically from my daughters computer or possibly from work when I get a chance. But not much I can do about it. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and look forward to being online again at home. Well looks like I will have some time on my hands and will use it to good use and get some things done around the house that I have been putting off for when I have some spare time.

Where is the warmer weather??

I just got off work and it was so cold out this morning. I heard the birds chirping which is a good sign of spring, but it sure wasn't warm. I read on the weather channel where we are suppose to get some snow today and tonight. I sure hope not. I know it won't be much if we do as the ground is getting warmer so it won't stick but...Come on I am so ready for spring and nice weather. I hope when I wake up in a few hours I won't have an unpleasant surprise. I am going to try and dream happy thoughts.

I received an email this morning about my tickets for the June and August Michigan Nascar race have been mailed to me. I am so happy. I love going to the races. I can't wait to hear that sound. Its something to experience, to feel the breeze as the cars go by, to smell the rubber being burned off the tires onto the track, mmm I can't wait. Here is a little video of the race last August as the cars went by. Notice the womans hair blowing just for an idea how much you feel.

I hope you enjoy one of my favorite things to do. I hope everyone has a pleasant day and hope for warmth on your face and in your heart.

Playing catch-up and crafting

It has been a long time since I have last posted. I honestly didn't feel like it. So many things going on and just didn't have the energy or desire. Probably a little cabin fever thrown in there also. Since I last posted it turned out that I had 3 funerals in 4 days time to go to. That is enough to drain anyones emotions and I hope I never ever have to do that again. As most know I work the midnight shift which is hard in itself but then not be able to take a night off if you need to is not a good thing. We are short handed and you have to have a certain amount of staff working on any given shift. So between things I need to do or places I need to be and trying to get some sleep before work just has not worked out so well. Getting maybe 3-4 hrs sleep in any given day does takes its toll on a person. I may sound like I am complaining, and I am, but I am also greatful to have a good job. I don't see any layoffs in the future as unfortunatly there will always be criminals and they have to be placed someplace, so...I think my job is pretty secure.

Ok enough whining. I have been keeping myself busy working on some cross stitch and embroidery. I made these two pics for my daughter for her birthday. The moon pic is cross stitched and the sun is embroidered. I couldn't find both pics in the same craft style so I did one of each. She didn't care she loves them.

I also have been making these little cross stitch Easter pillows to put in a basket and set on my shelf. I want to make a few more but will see after I put my Easter decorations up over the weekend. I have also made some cross stitch pictures.

I have some more projects on the horizon. It will keep me busy at night at work between doing my job. I am happy I am able to do these things at work.

I am hoping for more nice weather soon. I have been able to have my windows open a little this past week to let some nice fresh air in. The house already smells better. Not that it smelled bad before but there is just something about that fresh smell after being shut up all winter. Well I am off to get some things done around here before I need to get ready to go play Bunco and then go to work. Gotta get my craft bag ready to take full of things for the night. :) Everyone have a wonderful day. I wish I could figure out how to link Leslie's blog on here but if you came from her blog to mine then you know where to look for more ideas. Again I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Seems Like Forever

It seems like I have been away forever from blog land. A lot has been going on around here for me. I went to a week long training for work in Indianapolis last week. It was a very good training. Long but good. It was on mentoring youth after incarceration. I came back with so many things I want to try at work. If I can make a difference in even one child it will be a good thing. There are so many youth out there that have no one to look up to, no one to be an advocate for them, someone they can trust, someone that would be a good role model. I really encourage everyone to find the need in your community and work/mentor some youth. They don't have to be youth that are in trouble with the law. There are some some children that are good kids but they need someone to be there for them because they don't have parents that either can't or don't know how to care and parent the right way. Even an hour a week can make a difference. This is something that is near and dear to my heart. The group that went on this training are hoping to get the judge and probation on board and get a program started here in our community. It will take awhile but the end results will be a better community all around.

Before I went on this training I stopped at my Aunt Phyllis house to see her. This is my dads sister. She has not been doing well and I wanted to see her. She was not doing well and I knew it would be just a matter of time before she left this earth. She told me that it wasn't fun anymore, and that she was tired. She passed away Sat afternoon. She was 80yrs old.I am sad to see her go but I know she is no longer in any pain and she is with her husband again after almost 18yrs to the day of being apart. He was the love of her life. Also a 2nd cousin of my fathers passed away around midnight Sat. And a very good friend of the family is not doing well and I expect to hear from my mother any day now that he has passed. I realize that as I get older so does my family and they can't live forever but it doesn't make it any easier. I realize I am an adult but at times like this I sometimes wish I wasn't. So tomorrow afternoon I will go to 2 different viewings at 2 different funeral homes with the same people as both of these women are from my fathers side of the family. Wednesday is the funeral for both at the same time. I will go to my aunts funeral as I was closer to her. Just not something I want to do. But I will.

While on my training all 5 of us from work had our own seperate suites. They were really nice. I was able to take some crafts with me and that was nice to relax at night. I got a couple of things stitched just need to put them in frames. I need to find more things for Easter to stitch. I love stitching. I want to try some things made from wool also. I think its called pennyrugs. They look so cool. I saw on a blog the other day some really cool Easter eggs that I want to try.

I am contemplating finding a part time job a couple days in the afternoon. I work midnights and usually only sleep till around noon or so. So by working just 3-4hrs in the afternoon will give me a little extra money to pay off some things and I still will be able to get sleep for work in the evening. Will see how that goes. I do have an application in at an eye doctor office. They are only looking for someone 3 days a week for a couple hours and that would be perfect for me. The owner was excited about what I could offer when I spoke with him. I need to call him tomorrow early afternoon. Hopefully that will work out.

I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week. I keep hoping spring gets here soon. I am so tired of this cold weather. Take care and be safe.

Past Quilt Project

I have not really been working on anything in particular this past week. Just a lot of little loose ends that I needed to get done. I must be in a crafting slump of sorts. But I did want to share the picture of the quilt I made for my granddaughter for when she came home from the hospital. I made this in 1992. Its hard to believe that my granddaughter will be 17 in April and she is a Junior this year. She even asked me the other day if I would make her prom dress. I don't feel old enough to have a grandchildren as old as I do, so that must mean that she is really not that old. Life sure goes by fast. This was just a panel of fabric that I added some batting to the back and then quilted around the squares. I didn't really know what I was doing but it turned out nice. And such nice memories for me as I look back for when we brought her home from the hospital. Her mother was but a child herself (16), and although I wish she would have waited to have children I wouldn't trade either of my grandkids for anything. They really are the love of my life.

I also wanted to post a stitchery I made for my very good friend Deana for Christmas. I hadn't had a chance to post it before. I really like the way it turned out and she loved it. It was a surprise for her.

I finally got rid of the extra twin bed I had in my son's old room today. So now I have the big task of cleaning that room from top to bottom, shampoo the carpet and finally get the sewing/craft room that I want. I sort of had things in there where I could use that room to sew in, but over time it seemed to become a catch all room. Things that didn't have a place, things that needed to be fixed, things that needed a new home seemed to find their way in there. I am embarrased to even show the picture but I figured I would and that would be an incentive to get get it done. It is going to take me awhile to finish this room because of my crazy work schedule and not having more then one day off at a time. I will do it as I find time but I WILL get it done. I think part of the reason I am in a craft slump is because I can't find everything I need and I need a nice place to create. Overall I am just happy to have a room where I can dedicate to my sewing and craft.

Enjoy the day and be safe.

Wishing on a Rainbow

As a kid my grandmother always told me to make a wish whenever I see a rainbow. Oh such easy and carefree days. This is a pic that was taken last June over my house. I have had a lot of things on my mind lately and I ran across this picture while looking for something else and thought of my grandmother. Brought a smile to my face. My grandmother's birthday was February 11th and she would have been her 115. She was this short little lady who so big in her heart. I have so many happy memories of her. I wish I could talk to her again. Someday I will and I know she will welcome me with open arms. I don't have a picture of her on this computer. I need to go through my actual photographs and scan them into this computer, but I just haven't had time. Time these days seems to get by me so quickly. If only there were just 2 more hours in the day I might get things done that I need to. Oh I know I am rambling but I think I its more of a cabin fever. I need to have some nice warm weather, the sun shining, the warm breeze coming in my windows and being able to be outside. I can't wait till spring. I can't wait to go to this training for work next week. I will be gone for a week and will have time to relax each day after the trainings. There are 6 of us going from work and we each get our own room. The rooms happen to be suites. So it will be nice and relaxing at least for me it will. I am making my list of things I want to take with me. I NEED to just get away and be with my own thoughts and think a lot of things through. I also am a little frustrated because my camera is broke. Not sure what happened. I took a picture, noticed the battery was going dead, so charged it, put it back in the camera and nothing. It wouldn't turn on, wouldn't do anything. Thought the battery was bad, had it checked out, nothing, its fine. So now I need to call Fuji and see about getting it fixed. It's not even a year old yet. Oh well just one of a number of things that seem to be going haywire around here.
I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful day. Enjoy the rainbows in your life. I know I have many. I just have to put them in order.

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day. I have my bags filled with candy, gifts and cookies for my daughter and granddaughter. I also have some rice krispie treats in the shape of pink lips and pink hearts to give to both of them. That will probably be their favorite. My grandson got his bag yesterday at school from me. He was happy and scarfed down a couple of the cookies right away. That boy never turns down food of any kind, yet he is so skinny.
Now here is a picture of what I would like for Valentine's Day. So if anyone has a spare one laying around would you please share. LOL anyway, I hope everyone does enjoy this day of Love, Romance and Family.
Happy Valentine's Day

Baking and Crafting

This past week I have been working on making some of my family Valentine bags. I saw the bags on another blog, which I posted about in a few days ago. I made 4 of them. They turned out really cute. Well at least I think so. Gee hope that I don't break my arm patting myself on the back. LOL They take no time to make. I think from start to finish it was maybe 45 min. Those type of things are always good to do especially if you need something in a hurry.

At work we have a team for Relay for Life and today and tomorrow we are having a bake sale, one of many we will have before the Relay in June. I am not much of a baker. Never really have been so if I can make something that takes little time but looks like you took hours then I am all over it. So here is something that I have made in the past and has always been a hit. What does these two things have in common?
These, and boy are they good!
These take no time at all to make. Just use already prepared sugar cookie dough. I bought the big box at Gordons Food Supply, and you need Andes mint candy for how many cookies you are going to make. Just take each cookie and wrap around a piece of candy. Place on cookie sheet about 2 in apart. Bake at 325 for 10 min. They will look like they are not done. Thats ok, just let them sit on cookie sheet a few minutes to settle. They do make a flat cookie. But if you bake them a little longer the candy melts to much and they don't set up very well. I learned that the hard way. They really are just that easy and oh so good. I try to have some of these on hand so if I need to make some quick cookies for whatever I can make them.
I was having issues with loading the pictures today so please parden me for the way this post looks. I hope you have a wonderful day and be safe. Enjoy this nice weather for as long as it will last. I know I am.

16th folder, 15th picture

I have read some blogs where they pick a folder and picture by number and post that. I thought it was a fun idea and thought I would try it just to see what would come up. I couldn't decide what number to pick so I decided to use my granddaughters age for the folder and my grandsons age for the picture. Who knew that this particular picture would come up. I laughed at what came up. It actually a picture of them together. This picture of Morgyn and Kharson was taken on my birthday this past year. It had been over a year and a half since I had seen my grandson and I was so surprised at how much he had grown. The reason I hadn't seen my grandson is a story in itself. But to emotional of a one to explain. But suffice it to say this past birthday was a Glorious one for me. No amount of presents or surprises could top seeing him. Ok so now I was intrigued to see what would happen if I put in some other number combination if they would coincide. Well it didn't but this is what I came up with when I used my 2 daughters birth months. It came up only as a picture of my beautiful oldest daughter Amanda.

Ok so I thought I am going to try this one more time and see what comes up. This time I used my birthday month and day. What came up is a picture of me laying on deck on the cruise we went on last March. I really didn't want to post this because I hate, absolutely hate having my picture taken let alone show anyone, but what the heck I gotta do it. We had the deck mostly to ourselves that day as most of the passengers had gotten off to go into Calica, Mexico but we opted to stay on board and just relax. And relax we did. Oh the sunshine over this snow sounds so wonderful.

Well I guess since I have posted pics of most of my family I might as well post a pic of my youngest daughter and my son and my future dil.

Try this and see what you come up with. I had fun.
Have a wonderful day and stay safe.
